Okay, I guess no two days are ever the same but I do try and follow a rough timetable each day.
Most mornings I get up about 6.30/6.45 though I am trying to bring this back to 6.00 am to try and fit an hours work in before the school run, or get back out running again. Usual shower and breakfast and sort out small child for that day's particular school requirements, most of which I am only informed about at the last minute! Possibly test her on her spellings or maths homework, or negotiate over which kids TV channel is appropriate for her age!
I try and check my emails over breakfast as there are often some in there that either need just a quick response or are easily handled. Maybe a quick hello to the other VA's on the VA support group on Skype and a few tweets on Twitter and I am ready to go.
Small child is mature in many ways but still likes her Mum to wait with her in the playground till she goes into school so quite often I find myself chatting with one of the Dad's who I now know is an author, but only discovered this via Twitter.
After school I may have a quick visit with my ironing lady (my version of outsourcing ;) ) and then its off to a local Clients most mornings.
I tend to catch up with Clients while I am driving (handsfree!) on the way back to the office, and return any calls from my call answering service that I haven't already dealt with.
Get home early afternoon, have a very late lunch and review emails and my database task list for the day. I tend to use my afternoons for calls on behalf of Clients, be it credit control, chasing through information for IFA's, researching training courses or ringing Client's clients and booking them into the diary etc. It really depends on what Client's actually need from me.
I then probably work till 6.00/6.30pm, again this could be doing bookkeeping, creating word documents, spreadsheets, faxing information off, researching companies at companies house etc.
Family tea, and if I have tasks that require urgent completion sometimes go back up to the office to ensure they are done in time but try to clock off no later than 9pm. If I am not working in the office I am normally found lounging on the sofa firmly attached to the laptop, either planning my diary, tweeting, skypeing, doing my own books, or on here ;) I sometimes also work on a night if I have been on a training course, or coaching session during my "working hours" to make up the time.
I am still in start up mode so you will sometimes still find me on line at midnight occasionally, researching information, blogging, planning blogs, writing blogs, doing the Tesco shop or even the Xmas shopping etc.
Few hours sleep and it starts all over again :D
I am not the sort of person who can just sit and relax, I always need to be doing something, I sometimes treat myself to a hot bath to relax but will either have a great book with me or be tweeting on my ipod touch! I rarely switch off. And the number of times I either dream a blog or solution to a client requirement, or wake up with the answer is amazing.
Oh yeah, and somewhere in that lot I sometimes find time to study! I am a part qualified bookkeeper having got 100% on my level 1 exam earlier this year and just have three chapters to complete on my level 2 exam to become fully qualified!
I look forward to hearing more about your days!
