Hello from an IT/Bus Troubleshooter & Unstereotypical Geek

Postby ian.barrs » 06 Apr 2010, 09:52

Well, hello hello!

My name's Ian, and I'm an IT/Business Troubleshooter, Unsteretypical Geek and general Go-To-Guy for SMBs and Charities.

For those interested in hiring my services, I consult on and provide genuinely valuable Research, IT and Communications & Surveyance Services to SMBs, Charities and pretty much anyone else who needs a hand. These titles incorporate a wealth of versatile roles within - for example, Communications include copywriting and proof-reading (as kipfxdesign found out :) ) - and I pride myself on being able to offer a well rounded, completely tailored service to each client. I don't compromise on quality, and I have the contacts to get things done.

PRINCE2 certified, with a host of technical and business certifications, I can fill the gap in your company, and meet most requirements.

My experience speaks for itself. I have worked in a variety of Support, Business Administration and Management roles. I've experience of Customer Support, Change Management and Service Delivery; Project Management, Resource Co-ordination and Operations Management; IT Management, Technical Authoring and Standards Implementation; First Line, Second Line, Bespoke and Desktop Support; Systems & Network Management, Major Incident Management; Builds, Migrations and Asset Management.

I've been part of a team of 250 staff, and the guy who's in charge of everything with a plug. I've written policy, authored training documents and trained colleagues and customers. I've been involved in, or directly selected and implemented most conceivable types of business system. I've created and worked with a budget, and balanced P&L. I've arranged contracts and secured deals of benefit to the company. I've written, proofed and approved marketing, branding and promotional items. I've created and maintained the systems they run on and their methods of delivery. I've arranged business events, public events and promotions. I've moderated communities, mediated customer disputes and managed colleagues.

These lists are not exclusive.

I'm a good all-rounder, a go-to-guy, an ideas man with an eye for detail and a mind for progression. I'm open and honest, and I don't like to brag - all I have written is fact, and gives you the basis of what I can do.

Recently, I've been trying to start a company/charity called discoverAble - an organisation for those only able to work from home, so I am also seeking leads from companies with roles that could be suitably filled from home.

Many thanks for your time, and please, do get in touch if you have any queries!

Take care

Ian

Hello Ian, welcome to the forum.

A nice complete intro... best of luck with everything, although it doesn't look like you will need any luck.

Sean, Kip, thanks for your comments. I'll be honest, that's a rehashed version of my website and blog profile - I find it serves to best get across the somewhat varied experience and explain the "Troubleshooter" title - plus my nature to explain clearly!

The one thing I forgot to mention is I can be an over-active networker - but generally, people either know that or find out soon enough :)

I'll have a poke around and see what's what.
