Google phoned three times today!

Google phoned three times today!

Postby SMART-HSS » 24 Feb 2010, 11:45

They speak so fast and off a card of prompts that it is hard to understand them. The up-shot is if I spend just £99 a month for 6 months they will guarantee me to hit front page on a variety of search results? I've been hitting front page for days now and with the help of my web designer I have now filtered my advertising through several other areas (really cost effective) which gives me first page results time after time on around six or seven differing search parameters. (Trying to get into the fingers of who might search me out and how they would do it.

Sorry for the waffle but what exactly is it that Googly are trying to sell me? I'm absolutely not doing it, I just wondered if someone could explain in plain English.

Cheers

Are you sure it's Google and not some con-artist name-dropping and trying to baffle you by jabbering at 200 miles an hour?

Google don't sell positions a-such (although they DO provide paid advertising, but rarely phone up to flog it to you - it's not really priced the way you describe anyway).

If it IS someone trying to badger you into buying a service of some sort, be very careful and check them out thoroughly first - there are lots of very dodgy companies out there. Happy to advise if you need more detail. :)

Thanks Matt, much appreciated. Whilst enquiries are on the up since the website and other advertising was launched I have no intention of being suckered into something I do not need.

Appreciate the heads up though.

Most of us do our own SEO, some people use PPC (Pay Per Click) but I think the statisics show that 80% (or something like that) ignore the paid for ads. I npticed that only locals were clicking on my PPC's and as we are well placed anyway, I knocked the PPC on the head!

We hired a car the other week to go to Nottingham and back, (used them a couple of times now) and we had the owner this time, and he was paying £100 a month to get his SEO sorted (one of the cheapest I have heard of) I did him a quick audit the next day, as they were shafting him, he had no alt tags even (room 101 stuff) So I would imagine they were just link building.

Actually, must check to see if they have sorted it all yet, as told him to list the bullit points I sent via email, and see if they want to sort them out before the next payment was due, I betcha they did!
