Could your business benefit from a iPhone application

Postby ProductiseIT » 04 Dec 2009, 14:49

Do you think your business could benefit from a iphone application?

Over 40 million worldwide users. 2 billion downloads in just over 1 year.
iphone now sold on the following networks:
o2
Orange

2010:
will also include
Vodafone
3G

My thoughts:
As a development company we have found that most 99% of small businesses have achieved great success.
How? Why?

Firstly one of our first customers when I first met him was a guy who was a EUFA A licensed football coach who had a small hit website selling e-books.
He launched his first app in April to do with coaching football, since its release he didn't spend 1p on advertising, he just relied on people using the search facility on itunes/app store.

Over the following months his e-book sales increased by 4. His website traffic went from 200 hits a month to 1000 hits a month and his app sales are now at over 8000.
It just goes to show that if it hadn't of been for his app he would probably be still in the same position.

Many people would argue that there are 100,000 apps on there now making it impossible to make money or get noticed.
Think of websites and Google. You run a business offering property rentals. You type in Google and over 200,000 websites are returned.
Where do you start to look?
From those 200,000 websites how many have a iphone app?
1-Rightmove

So from an app point of view Rightmove will remain the number 1 rental supplier. They are ahead of their competition and now they are on a new media global platform making it easy for their customers to find rentals.

We are currently building an app for a Sales Training Company ( I cannot disclose who or what will be offered) there are currently around 5 good sales apps on the app store. (NO competition) and there is a good chance that whoever is interested in that type of thing will purchase all 5 apps, at a cost of maybe £2 per app.

What else can a app bring to the table? REVENUE.
Every app you sell brings in royalties. Apple keep 30% of the total app price and then you get the rest. If you market your application properly, you have a unique idea then who knows how much money can be made.

What if my business wouldn't suit a app? We have just done Car Doctor for West riding Toyota. No mention of there main business this was just a great idea their marketing manager came up with.

I hope this helps people understand what a valuable asset this could be to your whole business portfolio.

I have a iMac (The Beast) but whats an iPhone? Mine says BlackBerry on it :)

But seriously, I think iPhone apps are a cracking business tool, even kids use their mobiles for so much more than making calls and texting, as a business app or marketing tool they are priceless!
