Steve, have you got a search javascript that goes in with css at all please buddy? The ones I have gotten so far do not integrate with the site I am doing.

Kip is it for your UKBN Site?

If so i created your page using your uploaded script (on my own servers before you begin panaking) and tried to embed a Google Search bar but the script is throwing it all over the show.

I will try to take another look soon when i get chance.

keep me posted of your progress.

No its fine now Steve thanks, I went for the click and search option instead, at great success I must say, and works better and easier than the search would have allowed, stayed clear of the google ones anyway, would have gone for a paid coding or a cheeky little Js that Doug was looking at for me, he did tell me how to get it in properly, but I ballsed it up, so went with the Jump To's instead!

seanstevens wrote:As my business is mainly offline I have never really understood the online world of internet keywords and the like. I've been reading up on it but have a question on 'keywords'

Should I put: "debt collections in windsor" or just "debt collections"?

What I am saying is do I need to go into detail and try to work out what people would search for? as I know when I search I always write a sentence.

Coming back to the original post!

I just published a short blog about keywords and reviewing them - more hoping to pull out funny ones people have seen than anything else. You can read it here: http://www.mattchedit.com/Blog.aspx

If you mean the meta keywords tag, I'd probably put both in if the local area is important to you - however, the weight/influence of the mega tags is widely debated and the title is probably more significant. As to which you use primarily - it's down to how competitive they both are and whether you are aiming primarily at local business (obviously it is easier to rank higher in a smaller scope e.g local area)!

This is something I need to do on my main site, its the typical story, of a painter never decorating his own home, but yet with web sites it can make or break the site, today I shall be going through the site and making sure that the images are titled as well as alt tagged, after using the tag cloud link that Stavros posted, I was shocked at how little I had used key words, you view yourself on the top of google one week and think that is it!

It is far from the case, I used to teach sales staff that being the first was the hardest, as number 2 and 3 were gunning for you, it is the same with your google ranking, when you are numero uno for your chosen sector and area, you can rest assured that there are another 5-10 companies working their arses off to catch and pass yours.

Take some time today, go through your web site, make sure it is as it should be, we are N2 members, we are better than the rest! Viva Google Domination! :D
