Twitter on Google

What does everyone think about the reports that Twitter feeds can now be seen on Google?
Will it change the way you Tweet?
Does it really have any business benefit?

I think it could be beneficial, if you are using your twitter account in a business like way, mine is used personally and businessy, my igger fear at the moment is google getting into tweets and facebook posts and status'.

Morally, I cannot believe that have done this, we have a 15 year old girl in our lil family, I fear that when she posts 'meeting Vikki and co at 7pm in Starbucks' that some 'ne'r do wells' can see this on google?

I think it is quite scary, there are plenty of ways to get your company noticed, think google is fast becoming a big brother entity, if a Credit Control companies Tweets are showing (for example) on page one of google, is this affecting the hard work you put into your own google ranking?

It's definitely an interesting one - along with the whole "mecca" of "real time search".

To some extent it won't really amount to much over the very short term, because it's so hard to build good real time results based on relevancy/context (expect this to change - things are going to advance very rapidly I suspect). It certainly will not change how I use things like Twitter, but then my philosophy on social media, etc, is quite open book anyway!

The impact on search rankings is the most interesting aspect and certainly hints at a future where maintaining a solid google position may involve sending out relevant, valid-search-context real time content as well as static web content - making it even harder to rank consistently. That said and done, though, the actual value of real time/social information (e.g a tweet) is far lower than that of a page full of good info, I would say..!

Some good information and concerns above. My fear for Twitter now is that is will simply become a spam paradise with every PPC spammer continually sending out their Tweets for the chance to get one on Google. I think this could make it even more important to check who you are following and who follows you on a regular basis.
